The exhibition "More than Moscow" became the third stage of the NEMOSKVA project, which establishes interregional ties in the field of contemporary art. This time in the St. Petersburg "Manege", chosen as an exhibition site, the works of 80 artists from 21 cities of Russia were presented.
The design of the Nemoskva exposition follows its internal structure: the works of the participants are exhibited under the guidance of 7 curators and correspond to 7 themes. The architecture reflects this division, at the same time forms a common framework that takes into account the heritage status of the "Manege" and turns into a delicate intervention in its halls.
The exhibition space is structured by two large-scale objects. The first of them, the pavilion of the curator Antonio Geusa, welcomes visitors in the entrance hall, uniting the exposition of the entrance area. Covered in a bristly, tactilely recognizable material, the pavilion houses the works of artists, while also playing the role of a backdrop for Mayana Nasybullova's installation "Nothing Happens Again".
Another defining structure is built around the total installation "Park of Culture and Leisure" curated by Vladimir Seleznev. A fence-wall made of metal profiled sheet is twisted in a spiral and encloses the interior of the park. The outer side of the fence serves as a reflective screen - an object that forms the entire exhibition space on the second floor.
The exhibition was organized by the NEMOSKVA project with the support of the Central Exhibition Hall "Manezh", the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, the Committee for Culture of the city of St. Petersburg and the Potanin Foundation
